Walk the NYC Locations from The Godfather
The Godfather (1972) was filmed extensively in New York City. Here is a walking guide to the real locations from one of the greatest films ever made.
1. The Corleone Compound – Staten Island
Location: 110 Longfellow Avenue, Todt Hill, Staten Island. The exterior of the Corleone family home where the opening wedding scene was filmed. Its a private residence — view from the street only. Take the Staten Island Ferry + S74 bus.
2. Louis Italian American Restaurant – The Bronx
Location: The restaurant where Michael shoots Sollozzo and McCluskey was set in the Bronx. The actual interior was filmed at a studio, but the exterior establishing shots used locations around East Tremont Avenue.
3. The Hospital Scene – Manhattan
Location: The old New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, 218 2nd Avenue (East Village). Where Michael visits his father and prevents the assassination attempt. The building still stands.
4. Jack Dempseys Restaurant
Location: 1619 Broadway (Times Square area). Where the meeting with Sollozzo is arranged. The restaurant is gone but the building remains on Broadway near 49th Street.
5. The Genco Olive Oil Company
Location: Mott Street, Little Italy. The Corleone familys front business. Walk through Little Italy on Mulberry and Mott Streets for the authentic vibe — many buildings look exactly as they did in 1972.
6. Don Corleones Office
Location: Filmed at the Filmways Studio (now demolished), but the exterior establishing shots used buildings on Staten Island and in Little Italy.
